Amy's cheese pizza toaster pops

Sometimes I would look at a pop-tart and wonder if there is a savory version of it out there. Lo and behold - there it is - Amy's cheese pizza pop-tart.

It has a lot of gooey bright red tomato sauce which freaked my son out. My daughter ate it fine and then finished her brother's too.

Fage greek yogurt with super fruits

Fage came out with a line of superfruit yogurts - blueberry-acai, strawberry-goji, mango-guanabana and cherry-pomegranate.

Unlike most other other greek yougurts out there these feel light - like a whipped yogurt. They each have around 16% sugar and I am OK with that. The twins love their new dessert.

Mushroom lover's burger from Morning Star Farms

I love mushrooms - all kinds while DH hates them all. I am hoping the kids will like them so I can actually start incorporating them into the family meals.

My son ate half his burger, took out the mushroom patty and finished his bread. My daughter refused to touch hers till I took out the patty. Oh well…..I read somewhere that you have to try 10 times before some toddlers will eat some things.

Salba

A too-good-to-believe grain. If you have heard of Chia, then the way I understand it, Salba is it's first born much cared for big brother.

Salba seeds really have no taste. I sprinkle half a teaspoon into their yogurt and also sprinkle some on their 10 grain muffins before baking. No reaction from them…….

Liberte goat cheese

Another great product from one of my favorite companies. This goat cheese with active cultures is smooth and creamy (could not believe it is low fat) and not as firm as regular yogurt.

The twins loved it. They eat yogurt every single day but still noticed that this was no ordinary 'yogurt.' My son declared that he liked it 'veyyy much.'

Whole wheat parathas from Kawan

I use these whole wheat parathas from Kawan to make quesadillas. These are great for on the go too. The twins like them for the most part - I have to get the amount of shredded cheese I put in there just right. Too much and it's too salty for them, too little and it's just not enticing enough (I think.)

Curried red lentil soup from Pacific Foods

The twins have tried many kinds of lentils and lentil soups so this curried red lentil soup from Pacific Foods really did not get a reaction from them.

Trader Joe's mango yogurt parfait

It has mango in it so of course I had to try it. Trader Joe's is a mixed bag when it comes to yogurts and this one is a hit. Probably has something to do with the 23 grams of sugar in it. I diluted it with full fat yogurt and split it between the two.

B-healthy and B-well from Stonyfield

The cold season started and my yogurt is not setting firm every time. So Iam back to flavored yogurts. By now the kids have been eating yogurt every. single. day. For over a year. They are still not sick of it, but in terms of flavor they don't perk up at new ones anymore.

Vegetable cutlets from Deep Foods

Another miss - Iam not sure whether it was the texture (large vegetable pieces, and breading) or the spiciness. All the adults in the house like these vegetable cutlets from Deep Foods but the kids have not warmed up to them yet.

Ian's fish sticks

The kids eat fish poached and baked. They have a love-hate relationship with fish and so I wanted to see if deep fried would do the trick. No luck, but once I separated the fish from the breading, they ate some of the fish pieces.

Cranberry and goat cheese cutlet from Quorn

The cranberries in this cranberry and goat cheese cutlet from Quorn are soft and sort of blend in texture-wise. I loved these, the kids though hated them.

Both of them took one bite and refused them every time I offered after that. I will reintroduce them after a couple of months - this packet Iam finishing.

Puffets from Peas of Mind

I read about Peas of Mind products is some parenting magazine a long time ago. So when I finally found them in the local grocery store I jumped.

I only tried the 'eat your greens' puffet so far because the twins absolutely hated it. It had a strong egg smell and I didn't like that it has 55% cholesterol for the day. Not that Iam concerned with the kids cholesterol intake at this point that much, BUT, they eat eggs, full fat yogurt and whole milk every day already.

I still want to try their veggie wedgies though if I find them.

Tilapia fillets from Sam's Club

The twins and fish have a love-hate thing going on. Some days it's yummy-yummy and some days it's gag inducing. They eat it poached (in a soup or rasam) or baked (idea from MandyE) with a little salt.

Tilapia is a 'best choice' according to the Monterey Bay aquarium seafood watch. BUT only if farmed in the United States. These Tilapia fillets from Sam's Club come from China apparently. I am trying to find out if that is still the case, and if so I will not be buying them from Sam's Club anymore.

Frozen spinach from Cascadian Farm

It's frustrating with fresh spinach - no matter how much I wash it I always end up with some sand after cooking - that dreadful grating noise at the bottom of the dish. Of course, a few grains of sand didn't kill anyone (at least not that I know of) but we are talking about my kids here. Besides, frozen spinach is just so much easier to get on to a plate (the real reason I confess.)

I mix it with lentils or a carb and they eat it up.

Colocasia or Taro root

Colocasia is the only vegetable the twins get to eat fried. For now at least. Cooked in a liquid they tend to be slimy which the twins absolutely hate. A traditional Indian recipe calls for them to be stewed in tamarind which reduces the slimy-ness. The stew though is spicy and the twins are not at that spice level yet.

When I tried to bake them, they came out rubbery! So any tips on cooking them slime-less will be very welcome.

Bottle gourd

Calabash or the bottle gourd is another mild vegetable we cook a lot with. After washing, peeling and pressure cooking, they eat it straight with a little salt. Sometimes I mix it with a lentil or a carb and the twins have no complaints.

Moroccan chickpea bisque from Imagine Bistro

One more soup to try to sneak protein into their diet. This Moroccan chickpea bisque is a big hit with everyone.

Sweet pea soup from Imagine Foods

The twins have never liked milk and my daughter has not been finishing the one bottle she gets before bed. To make sure they get enough protein I have been looking into ways to sneak it in. Since I am going through a soup phase I searched and found this creamy sweet pea soup from Imagine Foods.

I personally didn't like it but the twins had no problem. They liked it with other vegetables and their carb.

Shelled edamame from Seapoint Farms

I like to snack on roasted seasoned edamame. Since the twins cannot eat the hard roasted ones I decided to pressure cook (steaming works too) these shelled soybeans and offer them as a snack.

My daughter refused to even touch them. When I tried to hand feed them to her she screamed and screamed. My son meanwhile had great fun popping them out of their skins and flinging them all over.

So, I pureed and food cubed them and they eat it for lunch or dinner mixed with a carb.
