Edamame Hummus from Trader Joe's

This is one tart hummus. I mixed one teaspoon into their cereal and the twins both puckered up. Once I diluted it with more with cereal and added a veggie cube they were fine.

Avocado hummus from Yucatan

One of those products when you find for the the first time and think 'what a great idea!' This avo-hummus from Yucatan is handy since dealing with avocados is a deal for me.

The kids are used to really flavorful hummus so this bland one did not go down well with them. Also, with 50% avocado the texture threw them off too. They have had avocado before as well as plain hummus but something about the two of them together. Once I mixed it in with their hot cereal and added a dash of ground pepper and garlic salt they finished it without anymore fuss.

Red pepper hummus from Asmar's

This red pepper hummus from Asmar's is really not as fierce as it sounds. Moreover the twins have already had (and like) spicy hummus. So it was just another hummus for them.

Artichoke Spinach hummus

The kids love hummus and on some days that is the only thing that makes their lunch go down. That and the promise of desssaaarrr. After plain hummus for a couple of months I started introducing flavored ones like this artichoke spinach hommus from Greek Gourmet.

The twins have been eating artichokes and spinach for over 5 months now so no surprises here. I thought the bits if spinach might bother them since they are used to pureed spinach. My daughter stuck her tongue out once and growled at me to remove the spinach bit on it. My son did not even notice the spinach pieces.

40 spices hummus from Tribe

Usually when something touts itself spicy, I bring it home, taste it and roll my eyes about the hypocrisy of it all. But this 40 spices hummus from Tribe foods is all that and some. It is spicy and tastes 'fresh' too.

I was apprehensive that it might be a bit too spicy for the twins, especially my daughter who has more 'delicate' taste buds than my son. Surprisingly (actually maybe not) she liked it more than him. I started with a quarter teaspoon and now they are at a teaspoon each. I mix it into their lunch/dinner for the extra kick.

Hummus and Tahini

When the twins turned a year old their pediatrician OK'd all nuts and seeds except peanuts. So I have started adding a heaping teaspoon of hummus or tahini to their lunch. Both of them love the hummus but my daughter gagged on the tahini. I have backed off the tahini for now but will reintroduce it in a couple of months.
