Blackberry applesauce

Organic, no added sugar and fortified with vitamin C. I used to buy a lot of Santa Cruz applesauces till the local organic store raised the prices. The kids liked it fine - I think they have tried too many flavors of applesauce and yogurt already!

Cranberry raspberry applesauce

With cranberry and raspberry, I thought this applesauce from Mott's would be really tart. It has no added sugar, some added fiber and 25% vitamin C. The kids were fine - no dramatic displays.

Applesauce from Trader Joe's

My nutritionist (sis-in-law) is very particular about the vitamin C content in processed fruits and vegetables. So she was impressed that this unsweetened applesauce from Trader Joe's has vitamin C added to make up for the loss in processing. My twins don't like milk, so the added calcium is perfect.

I add the applesauce to their breakfast cereal, greek yogurt (dessert) and sometimes to their milk to trick my son into drinking what he thinks is 'juuuchhh.'

Apple applesauce

The twins have applesauce almost everyday. So I have seen a lot of different kinds of applesauces. It is one of those foods that I think I am better off buying - it is available cheap, (especially when I combine sales and coupons) is fortified and comes in many flavors.

This one from Musselman's particularly caught my eye because it is - you guessed it right - apple flavored! The twins had no reaction -and I did watch intently for one too.

Musselman's blueberry pomegranate applesauce

One more flavored applesauce from Musselman's healthy picks - blueberry pomegranate. Another 'superfruit brimming with disease-fighting antioxidants, potassium, niacin and vitamin C.' This claim is actually backed up by some research.

The twins have had pomegranate and blueberry before so no reaction - just another flavored applesauce for them.

Musselman's raspberry acai applesauce

The twins have already tried Acai mixed in with a bunch of other fruits in a juice. Again I bought this to relieve boredom. Acai is turning out to not be the 'exotic superfruit full of disease-fighting antioxidants, vitamin C and vitamin E.' I am sure it has it's share of good things like all fruits and veggies……….the twins liked it just fine.

Key lime cupuacu applesauce from Musselman's

It's touted as an anti-aging and anti-wrinkle miracle fruit but I bought Cupuacu because it was something new to introduce to the twins. According to Musselman's healthy picks keylime cupuacu applesauce packaging, cupuacu is 'melon-like antioxidant-rich superfruit packed with B vitamins and amino acids.'

With the first spoonful both of them puckered their lips and shuddered but I think it was because of the key lime. I added half a banana each to their applesauce and they were OK after that.
