Frozen spinach from Cascadian Farm

It's frustrating with fresh spinach - no matter how much I wash it I always end up with some sand after cooking - that dreadful grating noise at the bottom of the dish. Of course, a few grains of sand didn't kill anyone (at least not that I know of) but we are talking about my kids here. Besides, frozen spinach is just so much easier to get on to a plate (the real reason I confess.)

I mix it with lentils or a carb and they eat it up.

Artichoke Spinach hummus

The kids love hummus and on some days that is the only thing that makes their lunch go down. That and the promise of desssaaarrr. After plain hummus for a couple of months I started introducing flavored ones like this artichoke spinach hommus from Greek Gourmet.

The twins have been eating artichokes and spinach for over 5 months now so no surprises here. I thought the bits if spinach might bother them since they are used to pureed spinach. My daughter stuck her tongue out once and growled at me to remove the spinach bit on it. My son did not even notice the spinach pieces.
